<iframe width=”560″ height=”345″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/IyqIroSjpBY” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>Introduced and moderated by comedian Black Mike.

Filmmaker Jesse Baget and Actors Hector Jimenez, Kevin Farley and Olga Segura in attendance for White Knight.
Filmmaker Gary Sugarman in attendance for The Heist.

Leroy Lowe (Tom Sizemore), grand dragon of the Texas Ku Klux Klan confronts everything he’s been taught to hate when he’s sentenced to three years of hard labor on a prison work farm, where Warden Merville (Stacy Keach), dead set on rehabilitating Leroy, chooses Emilio (Hector Jimenez), a Hispanic field worker imprisoned for fighting for labor rights, to be his cellmate.

Leroy, confined in a small cell with the “enemy,” far from the KKK comrades who deserted him, finds the chatty Emilio slowly chipping away at his anger and prejudice.

His weekly rehabilitation meetings with the warden, barely tolerable as the man drones on about farm labor and field crops, take on a different meaning when Madalena (Olga Segura), a beautiful Mexican maid is hired to clean the warden’s office. An unconventional love story develops that opens Leroy’s eyes to the possibility of a different life. And a man who was a born and bred racist finds himself heading down a path to redemption. Mature content.

Showing with the short film “Lobster”
A young couple ponders the sentience of their dinner in the short comedy, LOBSTER. At a stalemate and with his parents minutes away, Bo and Raquel turn to an unusual best friend to determine the fate of their captive crustacean.

Lobster was recently selected for the Brown Filmmakers Showcase at Anthology Film Archives in New York City. Starring Chad Brummett and Emelie O’Hara, Lobster is 3-minutes of deadpan hilarity.

THE HEIST: Three yahoos are out to rob a bank, but these three guys haven’t got a clue about proper robbing etiquette.

DISCOVER THE GIFT is the remarkable feature-length documentary created by award-winning filmmaker, Demian Lichtenstein, with his sister, Shajen Joy Aziz, that celebrates the basic but vital reality that there are Gifts in each person, and in all circumstances, that are simply awaiting discovery.

Framed by the touching personal narrative of siblings Lichtenstein and Aziz as they describe their own journeys toward joy, power, fulfillment, freedom, and unconditional love, DISCOVER THE GIFT offers powerful lessons from authors, educators, activists, artists, and icons including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Jack Canfield, Janet Attwood, Terry Tillman, David `Avocado` Wolfe, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Mark Victor Hansen, and Niurka—and more — and has become a word-of-mouth sensation with early audiences.

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY: John Sayles
STARRING: Joel Torre, Chris Cooper, Garret Dillahunt, Yul Vazquez, Rio Locsin, DJ Qualls

AMIGO, the 17th feature film from writer-director John Sayles, stars Joel Torre as Rafael Dacanay, a village mayor caught in the murderous cross-fire of the Philippine-American War in 1900..When U.S. troops garrison his village, Rafael comes under pressure to collaborate from the blood-and-guts Colonel Hardacre (Chris Cooper) as he tries not to betray his people. But the situation is complex. Rafaelʼs brother Simón (Ronnie Lazaro) is the head of the local Filipino guerillas, and considers any concessions to the Americans to be traitorous. A devious Spanish friar (Yul Vazquez) is charged with translating, but thwarts communication with his spiteful intrigues. A sympathetic American lieutenant
(Garret Dillahunt) begins to learn that “hearts and minds” cannot be won at gunpoint.
Rafael is forced to make the near-impossible, potentially deadly decisions faced by civilians in an occupied country. Friendship and betrayal, romance and heart-breaking violence, AMIGO is a page torn from the forgotten history of imperialism and a mirror of todayʼs unresolvable conflicts.
